However, according to Dr. Jeffery Platt, a transplant biologist at the Mayo Clinic, the practical limitation is that the immunity barrier between pig’s and sheep is probably lower than between pig’s and humans. 13 pig and sheep were used in the experiment. One of the sheep rejected the heart, five showed milder rejection signs and the rest showed no sign of rejection.
